   least, Unix module does not contain any function doing that and the type is

   Is there some way (apart from hacking ocaml) to do that?
You can use Cash (http://pauillac.inria.fr/cash).  It has all the
machinery you may want to do that.  This machinery is not that light,
and this comforts Xavier's choice (IMO).
