Just like we don't write loops over lists, don't write loops over arrays; use higher level iterators. Check out the with-loop construct in SAC, or the for loops in Sisal, or the constructs in APL/J, or Matlab, or the PSI-Calculus etc. All of these languages, to a greater or less extent, remove the need for the humble for loop. Loops are for losers!
