This doesn't work for me, are you sure?
~$ cat a.ml
prerr_endline "a";;
~$ ocamlc -c -o /tmp/a.cmo a.ml
~$ ls a.*
a.cmi a.cmo a.ml
~$ ls /tmp/a.*
ls: /tmp/a.*: No such file or directory
