This is clearly a bug in the compiler.
A more immediate way to see it is:
type 'a t = < m : 'a >
type u = 'a t as 'a
This should be valid, but causes an error on beta1.
I've just commited a fix in CVS, so it might be nice if you can try
the CVS version with your software.
By the way, the preferred way to report bugs is through
caml-bugs@pauillac.inria.fr :-)
