There was discussion of CAMLPATH in the past, but only the ocaml core team can make any decision about this. I would certainly like to have it included, since it would make debian packaging much simpler, enabling to have a directory for packaged stuff (/usr/lib/ocaml/) and one for user stuff (/usr/local/lib/ocaml/ or even ~/ocaml/ or something).
