Hi,
Liquidsoap [1] has a Wav module for reading raw audio -- and a format
conversion procedure in mixer_c.c. It's not exactly ready-to-use and
general purpose but could fit your need.
Actually, if the binding exists, or if somebody (Hi Sam) does it, we
may use it instead of our module.

Not that I know of. Since I am actually an Ocaml user *and*
the main author of libsndfile I really should get around to
doing this :-).
Unfortunately, I'm currently rather short of time so Stefan,
I you put something together I would be more than happy to
to ship it with libsndfile and maintain it.

thanks, erik, i thought of something quick and easy, so for
the time being i'll probably just convert to raw data. when
i have some time i'll have a stab at sndfile bindings ...
