I just stumbled upon this rather enlightening comparison between the features 
of OCaml and SML:

Pretty much the only thing I envy from SML is equality types, and I think F# 
has a better solution to that problem...

I sent a few years ago some comments to the author (I just love  
commenting SML vs. Caml pages). Which the author ignored (authors of  
SML vs. Caml pages just love ignoring my comments).
