[...] Let each contributing developer get it's own devel-branch, then selectively merging certain branches to the main branch ("master") should be easy to incorporate changes that are fine, and the ones that seem to be problematic, can possibly talked about and adapted, before merged in. Permissions should be used accordingly, to avoid a mess. I think using git (with or without github) is making it much much more easy than using email.
