Hello Camlers !

I'm happy to announce a pre-alpha-beta -gamma release of ODE (OCaml
Development Environment). For now it is very incomplete for there is no
function specific to the OCaml language... In fact, only project and
configuration management functions are implemented (though not
completely). So, ODE is not yet an integrated develoment environment for
OCaml, but it will become (I hope so)! It was designed in a modular way
in order to allow each of you OCaml programmers to add the functions you
need. The aim is to provide a common interface to the various existing
(and yet to come) tools for OCaml, to create a complete IDE (with
documentation tools, databases tools, ...) to show that OCaml can be
used for large industrial developments ; we all know that, but industry
seems to know only C, ADA and Java.
This version of ODE is not intented to be used (though I use it now for
all my personal and professional developments) . It's a kind of idea, a
proposition : those interested can look at the code (i tried to comment
it enough, but it doesn't stand for a real documentation ; i'm working
on it) and even compile it and use it (you will need OCaml 3.00,
OLablGTK 1.0 and eventually OCamlSCCS to use the configuration
management part).

Je suis heureux d'annoncer une vesion pre-alpha-beta-gamma de ODE (OCaml
Development Environment). Pour l'instant elle est très incomplète au
point qu'il n'y a aucune fonction spécifique au langage OCaml... En
fait, seules les fonctions de gestion de projet et de configuration sont
implémentées (certaines encore partiellement). Donc, me direz-vous,  ODE
n'est pas un IDE pour OCaml. Cependant, j'espère qu'il le deviendra ! Il
a été conçu de façon modulaire (même l'IHM est un  module) afin de
permettre à vous programmeurs OCaml d'ajouter les fonctionnalités dont
vous avez besoin. Le but est de fournir une interface commune à tous les
outils OCaml existants (et à venir), afin de créer un environnement de
développement complet pour le langage qui puisse montrer que OCaml est
utilisable dans de grands projets industriels (même si nous tous le
savons déjà) .
Cette version de ODE n'est pas destinée à être utilisée telle quelle
(bien que je l'utilise maintenant pour tous mes développements,
personnels et professionnels). C'est davantage une sorte d'idée, de
proposition : les personnes intéressées peuvent regarder le code (en
espérant que lescommentaires soient suffisant pour donner une intuition
du fonctionnement général (Je travaille actuellement à l'écriture d'une
doc, une vraie). Vous pouvez même le compiler et l'utiliser (vous aurez
besoin de OCaml 3.00, OLablGTK 1.0 et éventuellement de OCamlSCCS pour
utiliser les fonctionnalités de gestion de configuration).

 Actually, CVS is much more popular and usable for your purposes.
RCS is not so compatible with CVS as it documented :(
Your project is quite interesting, so, what about a SourceForge account
for it (http://sourceforge.net). There is a lack of OCaml projects...

I started with SCCS because it was used at my office. When I
have time (may be some months), i'll surely develop a RCS version.
I know it is far more used than SCCS.
