Hmm.. can camlp4 generate C?
If so.. how about some language for generating
Ocaml/C binding code? Surely that would make
handling things easier than the existing macro solution?

Generating such bindings automatically (eg by SWIG)
is hard. Making it easier to hand write them should
be much easier.
