Subject: A kind of syslog functionality

Dear list,
I am looking for a way to gather the messages coming from various
modules of a program and selectively dispatch them to STDERR, a log
file, or whatever.
A module processing the messages in a manner similar to the `syslog'
found on UNIX systems would be nice.
