Hi,

I was wondering if it's safe to allocate a caml string in C -before-
the runtime is initialised.

IE: something like the following:

value version;
void main() {
  version = caml_copy_string(DST_VERSION);
  /* startup the system! */
  caml_startup(args);
}

Of course, this example is pretty silly, but a more complex example
does exist ;-)

Jonathan

No, it is not safe. As far as I can tell, it should crash immediately.
