Hi,
To answer my own question, I hadn't done a "make opt" when
compiling OCaml. Could be a better error message
for that?

I think that the solution is unrelated to "make opt", however
ocamlbuild fails to compile it's plugin (in case of using a plugin)
when the native library is not installed (use -byte-plugin if you
really cannot use native code).
