Its not looking quite so nice for me. At http://caml.inria.fr/ I get
a file with mime type unknown/unknown which my browser (Galeon) refuses
to display.

At http://caml.inria.fr/index.html I get:

[an error occurred while processing this directive] The requested
URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually
please check your spelling and try again. [an error occurred while
    processing this directive]

Small problems that I'm sure will be fixed real soon.

Hello,

I just installed galeon (aptitude got me version 1.3.20) and everything
is displayed correctly on http://caml.inria.fr/ .

I'm using version 1.25 from woody.

Regardless, the web server should be providing me with a vaid mime
type.

I must be missing something here. http://caml.inria.fr/ looks just
the same as it always did, (ie. functional, clean and simple).

DNS changes propagate slowly. (The new site is hosted on a different
server than the old site.)

As to the new site, credits for the design and most of the
implementation should go to Vincent Simonet. It's not 100% complete
yet -- some of the documentation material from the old site remains to
be transferred. Please be patient. The old site is still there at
           http://caml.inria.fr/pub/old_caml_site/
and is referenced from the new one. Obvious errors (dangling links,
etc) can be reported to webmaster@caml.inria.fr.

With the address "webmaster@caml.inria.fr" I get a bounce from "concorde.inra.fr"
which is MX for "caml.inria.fr".
Since this information is provided by "dns.inria.fr" with ip
"193.51.208.13" it is probably not a DNS error, and it appears that
the email configuration at "concorde.inra.fr" is incorrect.

The Objective Caml manual on the new website is for version 3.07, not
3.08. I'm not sure if there are any semantic changes or additions
between these versions, but it would be nice to have the documentation
consistent with the current version.

And by the way, I agree the new website looks much more modern and not
quite so cluttered. Good job web developers!

Well... it looks like the inria-pages looked before...

I miss the camel! :(

Is OCaml such a dry language as the page you apllaud to?

IMHO the page with the camel (what first was on www.ocaml.org)
was better suited to a language like OCaml: It has many colors,

The host appears to be "brion.inria.fr" or "128.93.11.23", but typing
either of them doesn't lead you to the site, because it is hosting
multiple sites, dispatched by the HOST header of HTTP requests. If
you cannot wait:-), you need to go:

  http://brion.inria.fr/caml/htdocs/index.en.html

change too:

I believe a serious website should not change all URL's at every

the old ones such that old bookmarks continue to work.

Yes, and all the links to the mailing list archive and all search results from
google are now broken. :-(

In particular, the previous FAQ will not be transferred as is. Instead, only
really relevant questions will be answered, so as to trim down the length of
the pages; for the others, references to the manual/tutorials will be
supplied.

As a consequence I would be very interested in hearing about your experience
with the old documentation:
- what did you find to be lacking?
- would you prefer more "easy" or "difficult" questions?
- which questions did you find answered?

Please reply to me directly, so as not to clobber the list.

OK, thanks! :)

It looks better than the academic ;-) page.

But the camel on that page looks like cigarettes marketing... :(

The Camel form the old www.ocaml.org looked soo nice...

OK, have now browsed a littlebid through that new pages.

They are very good designed.

Better structure of information-contents.
So I found the Bug tracking system as well as other
contents very easy.

So, this is good for finding information.

OK, even if I wish back the nice camel picture...
... I congratulate to the new webpage design too! :)

Ciao,

P.S.: The "Latest news" is also a nice feature. :)

I like the new website a lot! Much better than the old caml.inria.fr
site. I have one minor visual nit to pick though. The navigation
boxes cast shadows on the white area but don't cast shadows on the
sand, which is kind of weird. Granted, it's not terribly important,
but it caught my eye.

Cheers,
-n8

Looks great indeed. Better than the old version, and _especially_ much
better than the ugliness from the deceased www.ocaml.org.
