Why would someone go to all the trouble of making a manual up in dvi and ps
and not bother including a copy in ascii?

is having an online manual being discouraged?

doesn't make any sense at all...

It's not so easy to get an ascii copy of a document written in TeX,
especially when it is full of macros, as is the manual. If you know of
some way to obtain a readable ascii copy from a TeX document, please
tell us how to obtain it.

There is no online manual, but a large amount of the reference manual
is obtained by automatic means, from the module interface files of the
library: these files are thus fully commented and are considered as an
helpful online documentation by caml users. These files commonly
reside in the directory /usr/local/lib/caml-light (Unix versions).

Nevertheless, if you want a paper copy of the manual, you just have to
order it at Inria diffusion center. Charges are 120FF (about 25 US dollars).

You just have to fill in the following form (this is an hand made ascii
copy of a TeX form): you check off the first item if you do not want
to receive a diskett with the language. Otherwise check off one of the
other items for a Macintosh or PC version. Each item costs exactly the
same price.

Le logiciel CAML-Light et sa documentation sont distribue's pour

- Pour le Macintosh, le logiciel est distribue' sur une disquette
800 Ko, et ne'cessite  2Mo de me'moire vive au minimum, et syste`me 6 ou
7.
- Pour compatibles PC, le logiciel est distribue' au choix sur
disquette 5.25'' (haute densite', 1.2 Mo) ou 3.5'' (haute densite', 1.44
Mo).  Vous pouvez e'galement de'clarer que l'un ou l'autre format vous
convient indiffe'remment. Il ne'cessite 640 Ko de me'moire vive au
minimum, MS-DOS version 3.3 ou suivantes, un lecteur de disquettes
haute densite' 3.5'' ou 5.25''.
