I gave pandoc a quick try, and it does a very nice job. It's not even worth my sending in a pull request; all I had to do was pandoc -f html -t markdown infile > outfile. pandoc will also produce docbook output, but markdown seemed nicer to work with.

I changed the links directly in the html-files.
Broken links now should be all corrected.

Will conversion work with that changed html?!

so my guess is conversion will work well.

    If not, should I just correct/enhance the html files?
