If you don't use the compiler from the first-install location, you may be able to use DESTDIR ( https://www.gnu.org/prep/standards/html_node/DESTDIR.html ). But proper DESTDIR support was only added to the OCaml's build system for 4.02.0 (upon request of François Bérenger) so it would not work for 4.01.
