Yes - the paragraph explaining fastworld.sh (which is the first step before using install.sh) was removed between RC1 and the release of 3.12.0 so presumably that should have been removed too.

There have been various calls in the past for there to be one officially supported build system rather than two - perhaps the reference has been removed to discourage general use and make it clear that "make world" is the "official" build mechanism (at least for now)...
