Oops!  Thanks.  I guess contravariance in charm is a curse. (:

What about:

    # type void = { v: 'a. 'a };;
    type void = { v : 'a. 'a; }
    # let rec vv = { v = vv };;
    This field value has type 'a which is less general than 'b. 'b
