Hi all,

Does anybody know of an example of a Right Kan Extension of a functor
X:A->C along a functor F:A->B where B is not the 1 object category (as
this gives limits)? I'm looking for an intuitive example for a computer
scientist, not a mathematician (i.e. me!).

In "Categories and Computer Science" [Walters,1991], example 6 in
chapter 7 explains a situation in which the Left Kan Extension gives us
the arrows of the category B. As far as I can work out, the Right Kan
Extension for this set-up of A,B,C and functors X and F yields a trivial
answer. I am hoping to learn of a useful example to work with.

Regards,
