Did anybody apply the theory of categories to gene alignment problem?
If you have 2 sequences then the alignment is a morfism. My impression is
that many problems in genomic alignment can be formulated using
the language of category theory (e.g., product = intersection of 2 alignments,
coproduct = combining several alignments).
If somebody knows any reference or interested in collaboration, please
contact me.
