Would you be kind enough to share a copy of the following papers (and abstracts) of Professor F. William Lawvere (in case you happen to have): Categorie e Spazio: Un Profilo, Lettera matematica PRISTEM 31, Springer, Italy, (1999), 35-50. [Reprinted in La Mathematica a cura di Bartocci, Claudio, Giulio Einaudi editore (2010) vol. 4, 107-135.] Concetti fondazionali espliciti nell'insegnamento della matematica, Matematica e filosofia: il problema dei fondamenti oggi PRISTEM/Storia 14-15 a cura di Albeverio, Sergio e Minazzi, Fabio. Functorial Automata Theory AMS Notices 603-151, vol 10: 477-478 (July 1963) Concepts and Problems in Mathematical Toposes CMS Winter Meeting, Toronto, Special Session on Category Theory, Program p. 31 (December 1988) Categorical Analyses of the Whole/Part Relation Mitteleuropaeisches Kulturinstitut, Bolzano, Italy (May 1998) On a related note, I was wondering of any efforts to collect together Professor F. William Lawvere's posts to our Category Theory Mailing List, most of which are very substantive (e.g., critique of Chomskian syntax vs. semantics obsession unmindful of theories). Speaking of words and concepts, it is amusing to see how the enlightened artificial intelligentsia (AI) is blissfully oblivious to the mathematical advances---Bastiani & Ehresmann's Sketches, Grothendieck's Descent, and F. William Lawvere's Functorial Semantics---in our understanding of the relationship between presentations (words) and representations of concepts objectified as structures (cf. https://www.nature.com/articles/s42256-023-00703-8). This may not be surprizing given that Nature, Science, PNAS et al., turned political or something other than science (e.g., speaking in tongues: oracles and faith, https://www.nature.com/articles/529437a). The good old days of MacLane communicating Professor F. William Lawvere's Category of Sets to PNAS (and, of course, Functorial Semantics was also published there) are gone for good (cf. https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.1609793113). Happy Weekend :) Thanking you, Yours truly, posina [For admin and other information see: http://www.mta.ca/~cat-dist/ ]
