Over the course of the last years different people wanted to do this; different problems were found during the process. Finally Alexander Wirt packaged cgit and it entered Debian unstable [2] yesterday. With the upcoming freeze of Debian Jessie, which is planned to happen on the 5th of November 2014, and given a delay for package transitions from unstable to testing between two to ten days, I hope cgit will make the move before the freeze, which would include it in the upcoming Debian newstable, to be released ~ spring/summer 2015. (Don't take this for granted.) These are really great news, which I just wanted to share with you. :) Thanks for your great work on cgit, highly appreciated!
