Are you sure you are not thinking of `A m'? Hmm, I have gnus-save-killed-list set to nil, which is what I mean with a sparse .newsrc.eld. If I jump to e.g. comp.sys.sun.admin (a killed group), unsub it and rekill it, it will show up with A M and not A m with apropos `sun'.
