   *Why* does Gnus not do autosaves of the post-news buffer?  I was just
   bitten by this today.
   
I've been bitten by it, too.  
   
   I don't really have time to investigate this right now, so I was
   hoping that somebody already has a patch (if it is Gnus's fault) or a
   workaround (if it is some other package's fault).
   
I use this in my .emacs:
   
(add-hook 'news-reply-mode-hook (function (lambda () (auto-save-mode 4))))

Seems to do the trick.  But I agree, it would be nice if auto-saving
were enabled by default.
