With .29 I now get errors constantly that save-selected-window has not
been defined (and in deed, I can't find it anywhere (via grep) in the
lisp files). Is it a Emacs only function (vs XEmacs as well)?

Yes.
save-selected-window: a Lisp macro.
Execute BODY, then select the window that was selected before BODY.
Look in packages/lazy-lock.el for an XEmacs version.
