Subject: bloat?

Has sgnus got a lot more bloated lately than it used to be? This was an emacs
that had been running for two hours or so, with nothing in it but Gnus:
PID TTY MAJFLT MINFLT TRS DRS SIZE SWAP RSS SHRD LIB DT COMMAND
1170 v01 60771 47947 832 9132 14240 3972 10268 700 304 2199 emacs
Emacs is about 10 megs when I haven't yet entered any newsgroups, and it gets
worse. My Linux box gets quite unusable when it tries to fit a thing that big
into 16 megs of physical RAM with just X and a couple of xterms running. I
don't want to even think of running Netscape. And it wasn't long ago (one or
two weeks, I think) when I could run it at the same time with Gnus with no
problems at all.
I think these problems appeared after I had switched to the 0.5x versions of
sgnus. The last time I changed .gnus was in January, so it can't really be
some silly change I made to my configuration. My Emacs is 19.30.1 and Gnus
0.61. I only use Gnus to read news with NNTP.
