Sorry for bothering you but I cannot byte-compile the latest gnus. I get
plenty of 

  !! Invalid read syntax (("#"))

error messages. Something must be missing. If this is related to my still
using old version of GNU Emacs 19.28, then the gnus readme file should make
this clear.
