Platform: GNU Emacs 19.31, Sparc Solaris 2.5, Gnus 5.2.14

In an attempt to get rid of my current upgrade problems, I tried
temporary removing the ~/.newsrc.eld file, and create a new one, with
the .newsrc file as basis... only to find out that the ~/.newsrc file
wasn't updated wrt. marked-as-unread articles.

Is this a bug or a feature?
