Of course it can. I just wanted you to know that it is more difficult than just updating the .mh_sequence file. Gnus will need to read the MH/nmh configuration files and use any information there. Also, MH and nmh are developed by different groups of people. There are some minor incompatibilities between them. Also nmh will start locking folders and its context files to make things more reliable. Gnus would need to also do similar locking. I can answer any questions about MH or nmh you may have.
