"No MH Variant" Message While Building Gnus after Emacs Upgrade

I use the Fink package manager for Mac OS X to install Emacs, and I
recently upgraded to the newest version of Emacs to come down the pike
from Fink (based on the CVS version of 2004-11-17; the previous version
was based on the CVS version of 2004-6-17). To be safe, I decided to
rebuild my CVS version of Gnus ("make distclean", "./configure
--prefix=/Users/emilyjac", then "make"). During the build process, a
message appeared that I've never seen before: "No MH variant found on
the system!" I Googled on the meaning of this, but I'm still not sure
why I would only now get this message while building Gnus. Gnus seems to
be working as before.

It is harmless.  The message is written when loading the mh-e package
during compilation.

You don't need MH unless you want to send mail with it (which you
probably don't want).
