Karl Kleinpaste 0 siblings, 2 replies; 6+ messages in thread From: Norman Walsh @ 1998-12-04 15:33 UTC (permalink / raw) Cc: Norman Walsh I've just switched to NT Emacs 20.3.1 and pgnus 0.63. I typically read mail and news with gnus. I have an external process that slurps up my mail and deposits it in ~/.incoming/mail.spool. Then I use 'C-u 2 g' to snarf it into gnus. With my new setup, gnus reads and splits the mail, then reports buffer is read only #<buffer *Group*> I (setq debug-on-error t) and didn't get a traceback. If I exit gnus and return, all my mail shows up. Bug or operator error? --norm P.S. Since I'm already sending a message... - Is there any easy way to swap the functionality of "g" and "C-u 2 g"? - All the lines in my group buffer end with ^M in Emacs 20.3.1. Anyone got a hint about fixing that (I haven't tried yet)? Set gnus-group-default-list-level to 2, then use `5 g' to retrieve new messages for groups on levels <= 5. kai -- This gubblick contains many nonsklarkish English flutzpahs, but the overall pluggandisp can be glorked from context. -- David Moser ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 6+ messages in thread

Yes, but I'm seeing this in the *Group* buffer, not in article buffers (probably because I've already got remove-cr in the display hook, though I haven't checked). What does your | gnus-group-line-format contain? *Blush* Nevermind. It ended with an embedded literal linebreak instead of "\n". Emacs 20's end-of-line handling turned it into a ^M where Emacs 19 used to just drop it, I guess. Wonder why I did that, lo those many years ago.
