i've received a message which has the subject line displayed different
in *article* buffer than in *summary* buffer:
 *summary*:
    [  15: Janusz Myśliwczyk   ] Re: Już wszystko działa ?
 *article*:
    Subject: Re: Już wszystko działa \x02

as raw text:
 Subject: Re: =?iso-8859-2?Q?Ju=BF?= wszystko =?iso-8859-2?Q?dzia=B3a?= \x02
(that ^B is control-b)

the mime headers:
 MIME-Version: 1.0
 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-2
 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

this message was sent by:
 X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.76 (Macintosh; U; PPC)

Control characters are intentionally displayed as "?" in the Summary
buffer. If you don't like this feature, nuke buffer-display-table in
gnus-summary-mode-hook.
