It could be the reason. Your login name is chris (user-login-name),
so it omits all people named chris.
To solve the problem, you can explicitly set
message-dont-reply-to-names. e.g.
(setq message-dont-reply-to-names
"chris@shenton\\.org\\|cshenton@uucom\\.com")
