Oops. Thank you for pointing that out. I apparently never read that far, sorry to bother. However, why is that and how could Gnus be improved to honor these settings in gnus-parameters as well? Bień @ 2005-06-26 6:08 UTC (permalink / raw) Hi! I need to read my mail with IMAP on a computer, where the mail is kept in Maildir format. For the time being I am using fetchmail (the "novice" configuration worked immediately) but I am curious whether it is possible to read the mail directly with gnus. I am afraid I am the only user of gnus on this computer, so I can't rely on local help :-(. I also didn't succeed to find a relevant advice with Google. In .gnus.el I tried several values of `nnimap-list pattern', including the default, "~/Mail/*" and the one listed below. (nnimap "duch" (nnimap-address "duch.mimuw.edu.pl") (nnimap-list-pattern ( "~/Mail/Maildir/*" )) (nnimap-stream starttls) (nnimap-authinfo-file "nnimap-authinfo-file") ) Gnus connects correctly, but no mail is available. I am looking forward to your advice. Best regards Janusz -- , dr hab. Janusz S. Bien, prof. UW - Uniwersytet Warszawski (Katedra Lingwistyki Formalnej) Prof. Janusz S. You can read a Maildir directly with Gnus, or you can run an IMAP daemon on top of the Maildir and connect to it with Gnus. You seem to be trying to do the latter without an IMAP daemon. Courier IMAP is a good one, for example. Don't set the list pattern if you don't have to. If you already have an IMAP daemon, just open it from the server buffer (`^' from the group buffer) and subscribe to its groups (`u' in the server buffer n an unsubscribed/unknown group).
