Actually, George Stephanopolas was just talking about this issue last Sunday on one of those Meet the Press-type shows. The context was the recent Kavorkian events. Stephanopolas argued that issues like assisted suicide are perhaps too complicated to apply rigid laws to, and that the usual "solution" for this kind of situation is to enact laws but then only selectively enforce them. I think he called it something like "good hypocrisy". M.
