[pgnus 0.88] Tick marks are disappearing

I've switched from 0.71 to 0.88 here and all of a sudden many of the ticks
have disappeared. The articles are still marked with a star and are
available from the cache. I only changed the nnmail-spool-file related
stuff.

The same happened at home when upgrading from 0.84 to 0.88. There are no
changes in the configuration.

Same thing going on here...

In nnfolder if I use "u" on an article the first time I hit it I get the message:

Wrong type argument: arrayp, nil

If I then use "u" again the article will be marked, but when I go back 
to read the group again the marks disappear and gnus will say no
unread news, if no new articles have arrived.

These groups are set as auto expirable, but my config has not changed
and it worked properly with pgnus-0.84
