Yes it will.  I just asked on the dovecot mailing list.

I don't know. But I'm guessing that there isn't...?

And if there isn't, the only ways to preserve INTERNALDATE on folder
moves with nnimap in Gnus on dovecot with maildir, are:

 1. Go back to using MOVE for dovecot, ie. reverting the March 2016
    changes to Gnus:
