So ok, something must be echoing these XOVER commands, but what the
heck could it be?  As a reminder, here is my select method:

(setq gnus-select-method
      '(nntp "news.ps.uni-sb.de"
	     (nntp-address "news.ps.uni-sb.de")
	     (nntp-via-rlogin-command "ssh")
	     (nntp-via-rlogin-command-switches ("-t"))
	     (nntp-via-user-name "duchier")
	     (nntp-via-address "grizzly.ps.uni-sb.de")
	     (nntp-end-of-line "\n")
	     (nntp-open-connection-function nntp-open-via-rlogin-and-telnet)))

I tried adding "-E" to the nntp-telnet-switches but that did not seem
to help.
