For each gnus session it only happens once per group, but the next time I restart gnus I start downloading all over again. Presumably this has something to do with the agent and caching, but I don't know what. I have no customizations that mention "agent" or "cache". My ~/News directory doesn't have much in it -- drafts and queue, and one message in a "cache" directory. ~/.newsrc looks like this right now: gmane.emacs.bbdb.user: 1-3419 gmane.emacs.gnus.general: 1-82418 gmane.emacs.orgmode: 1-61739 And here is, for example, the gnus-related entry in my ~/newsrc.eld: ("gmane.emacs.gnus.general" 5 ((1 . 82418)) ((seen (82392 . 82403) (82406 . 82414)) (reply 82394 82397 (82400 . 82401)))) Is it obvious to anyone what's going on? Thanks, Eric
