I don't think so as I have offlineimap set up not to work directly with
folders, but through the dovecot interface. And thus dovecot is the only
thing between Gnus and my emails. 

I got the following error message:

Couldn't move article 2: NO (TRYCREATE) Mailbox doesn't exist: Gmail /

And it looks to me like a some charset misbehaviour. By the way I was
forced to use Emacs 24 (with Gnus v5.13) instead of Emacs 23 (I prefer
stable Debians for my everyday work) just because of broken built-in
Gnus imap support. And dovecot setup initially also was a bad imap (with
some servers that I use) workaround. But now I got a local mail
repository as a bonus which I like a lot. I'm not complaining and I
use Gnus and I do like it but it does really have some rough places.
