I now have gnus-save-score set to nil.  After entering and exiting
a group, the massive (score ...) entries are removed from that
group's list in .newsrc.eld, but they remain in that group's .mrk
file.  Is this a bug in the .mrk code?

By the way, is the eventual goal of the .mrk files to remove this
information from .newsrc.eld?  I can see benefits to this, like
faster performance because only the marks relevant to the groups
you access get read from disk, etc.  Or will the .mrk information
always be duplicated?
