I'm also pretty busy right now, but at least testing is always
possible.

Vitaly, if you're willing to assign copyright to the FSF, please post
patches (preferably against current Gnus CVS) as soon as you think it's
ready for testing.

I'm not sure what that implies. Does that mean you're extending active
to contain the whole sequence of available article numbers, not just the
highest and lowest one?
