The major adavantage of accessing debbugs by the SOAP interface would be to have a query mecahmism. Something like "Show me all bug reports submitted between 20100101 and 20100131, and related to package gnus" etc. Often enough, I find myself in remembering vaguely about a bug, but I'm not able to find it in my archives. The SOAP interface allows such kind of searching. But there are limitations: no full text search is possible, and it is not possible to sort the results server-side (and then say "just return the first 20 hits"). Another advantage having the SOAP interface integrated into Gnus would be generating of preformatted control messages. That means you might be able to compose the correct message to close the bug by hitting "B C" or so. Best regards, Michael.
