Yes. The default keys which all backends should respect are :host, :port, and :user. The netrc backend maps them to machine or host; port or protocol; user or login or account respectively. So for example: (auth-source-search :host "x" :user "y" :port "z") will match machine x login y protocol z host x account y port z etc. But that's not enough in many cases, so we allow extra keys: (auth-source-search :host "x" :user "y" :port "z" :foo "bar") will match machine x login y protocol z foo bar machine x foo bar but not machine x login NOTY protocol z foo bar The Secrets API backend works similarly.
