Well debian in the non mule version does *not* support file-coding. If I remember correctly it was me who asked the Debian manager not to include it anymore. The reasons for this was discussed in XEmacs beta and unfortunately I don't remember them. There is another issue, if I use XEmacs mule, then pgg-encrypt(sign)-region deletes the region in question, so I presume there might be a different problem Uwe Brauer
