IIRC some NNTP / NNRP servers discard input after some > errors, among other things. You should be fine with NNTP servers provided that you follow section 3.5 of RFC 3977. (NNTP calls this pipelining since streaming was already used for something different in the NNTP protocol.) We considered requiring a capability be advertised to indicate that the server supported pipelining, but found that support was already so widespread that it wasn't necessary. -- Russ Allbery (rra@stanford.edu)
