Right now, I can catch-up, expire and then go in and "unread" the messages. What would be nice is if there was a way I could tell gnus to expire *all* messages in this group whether they were read or not. That way, I would have just the last weeks worth of stuff in there. On another note, is there a way that I can convince 'm' (gnus-group-mail) or 'a' (gnus-group-post-mail) to send mail/post news to the group that I'm on currently? This works inside of a group, but I'd like to use it in the *Group* buffer.
