Why not?
What did not experience it but I think I don't expire mails at
all, come to think of it. You get that much mail?
I did respool from one group to another a couple of times, but
that was pretty swift IIRC.
What version of Emacs do you have?
I have
GNU Emacs 30.0.50 (build 1, x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, cairo
version 1.16.0) of 2022-12-26 [commit
2ffe1494e16381cfc7fec95a6a0879f268df3e95]
and I'm also on Debian so try to upgrade if you are around
27.1 (!) and see what happens, maybe the problem is
solved, even.
