It happens like this: Select an unseen/undownloaded article for the first time: * [gnus is doing stuff...] * article buffer gets set up * article line (the part that is usually highlighted with gnus-summary-selected-face) in the summary buffer bears the `nil' face (seen via M-x describe-face). Select an article that was downloaded before: * [gnus is doing stuff...] * article buffer gets set up * article line bears the gnus-summary-selected-face.
